Wenn die Regeln des humanitären Völkerechtes im Konflikt nicht mehr beachtet werden, sei das ein Wettlauf hin zu einem moralischen Tiefpunkt - eine Schnellspur ins Chaos und in eine unumkehrbare Verzweiflung, sagt Spoljaric. Das IKRK will darum mit einer Initiative das politische Engagements für das Völkerrecht stärken.

Im Tagesgespräch erzählt sie, wie das IKRK die Verrohung auf dem Kriegsfeld in seiner Arbeit spürt, dass der politische Wille für die Lösung von Konflikten oft fehlt und wie sie mit der Unmenschlichkeit umgeht, mit der sie tagtäglich konfrontiert ist.
