Ajami Scandar & Yaron Copti & Shani – Israel – 2009
Der für die Oscars nominierte israelische Spielfilm Ajami von Scandar Copti und Yaron Shani startet
am 19. August in Zürich (RiffRaff), Bern (Quinnie), Luzern (Bourbaki)
und ist ab 13. August in Baden (Kino Orient) und ab 28. August in Aarau
zu sehen.
In filmisch raffinierter Weise fangen die beiden Regisseure – der eine
ist arabischer Christ, der andere israelischer Jude – den Alltag von
sechs Jugendlichen in Ajami ein, einem arabischen Stadtteil in Tel
Aviv, wo das Leben einem permanenten Ausnahmezustand gleicht.

On October 30, 1948, the Israeli Army marched into the northern Galilee
village of Eilaboun (عيلبون). My uncle Badia Zreiq and 17 other men
from the village, who had been hiding with the rest of the village in
two churches, were marched to the village square. The rest of the
village residents were marched out of the village to the Lebanese
border.
The chosen men in the square stood waiting, hands on their heads while
the Israeli soldiers huddled in discussion. An officer stepped forward,
“We need three men,” the Israeli officer shouted to. Three
men stood up and were marched off with the soldiers. Moments later,
three shots were heard. The soldiers returned,
“Three more men,” Three more shots. And so on, until only
three men remained in the square, my uncle Badia among them. These
three were lined up and they shot at point blank range with an
automatic rifle in the square.

As Time Goes By - das Palästinensertuch ist auch nicht mehr das, was es mal war
Mit Tuch Flagge zeigen - das war einmal. Das Palästinensertuch,
lange Zeit Erkennungszeichen linker Gesinnung, ist heute ein ebenso
beliebter wie beliebiger Modeartikel. Protest gegen das Establishment,
Solidarität mit Palästina? Für die jugendlichen
Träger von heute sind solche Symbolwerte Schnee von gestern.
«kulturplatz» war auf den Strassen und hat sich gewundert,
wie das karierte Tuch seine Eindeutigkeit eingebüsst hat.
